Instructions

Here are step-by-step instructions for volunteering to sponsor a Freedom Board in your community.  If you have additional questions, drop us a message.

  1. Select a design.  Choose one of the billboard designs you like best.
  2. Contact advertisersSee our directory of outdoor advertising companies for your area and contact several vendors to get some rough idea of the costs involved in your market.  You should also have them review your selected design and approve the copy. Full-size billboards in major metropolitan areas are expensive and can run anywhere from $2,000 to over $5,000 per month.  However, board space located in second and third tier suburbs leading into or out of major metro areas is much more reasonable, costing as little as $500 per month.  The longer the campaign, the better price you can negotiate with the advertisers. Keep in mind you will need to also budget for the production costs for the board.  This generally runs about $1500 including design work, but if you are using one of our standard boards, you can get a much better price.  We have paid as little as $1 per square foot for production/installation costs.  Another opportunity for significant savings is to request remnant space from advertisers.  This is space that is available on boards between booked time slots.  Generally this is only available for 4 to 8 weeks, but the cost savings can be 50% or more.
  3. Raise funds.  Once you have a budget, contact friends, neighbors and business associates in order to raise the funds necessary for the campaign.  You can use our discussion forum to connect to other interested individuals within your state.  Small business owners have been sponsoring boards such as ours across the nation and should be a good source of funding.  They should also be enthusiastic about the fact that they can help sponsor these boards anonymously since our brand is on the billboards.  All of our billboard designs are ISSUE-ORIENTED and do not advocate for or against any particular candidates.  Thus, you do not need to setup a political action committee (PAC) in order to sponsor a billboard.
  4. Place your order.  Advertisers should present you with a statement detailing all the costs involved in the campaign.  There should be no hidden surprises.
  5. Promote the billboard.  Once the billboard is up, take photos of the board and notify us of its location — we will post it on our website.  In addition, you can do a press release with local media outlets that may decided to do a story on the billboard.

That’s all there is to it.  Thanks in advance for doing your part to help spread freedom’s message across America.
